John Mayer just dropped the new track “New Light” which he produced with hip-hop artist No I.D.
In the song John seems to be pleading with a girl to give him another chance, singing, “Pushing 40 in the friend zone/We talk and then you walk away, every day,” with the chorus having him beg, “But if you give me just one night/You’re gonna see me in a new light.”
The tune is the first new song from John since releasing the album “The Search For Everything” last year. Check out the song to the right.
- ONE MORE THING! In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, John Mayer discussed a variety of topics including Shawn Mendes and Kanye West. On Shawn he shares, “Shawn’s just a better version of me in a lot of ways. Shawn’s like John Mayer 2.0, without the weird software viruses,” adding. “It’s like, I was a beta version of a celebrity and he’s just a better. He’s a better version of a celebrity than I ever was.” As for Kanye, he shares, “He is maybe the greatest summoner of creative energy,” adding, “I’ve seen him do it. It’s a magic trick…Kanye is the best at it in terms of sitting in a room with a thing he doesn’t have and going and coming back with a thing. Within seconds he’s fearless.”
